While peak horsepower remains at 440, peak torque has been increased from 860 to 925 lb-ft, a 65 lb-ft improvement. The TorqShift 6R140 six speed automatic transmission returns for 2017. DEF tank capacity has been increased from 5 gallons to 7.4 gallons for Super Duty pickups (7.2 gallons for chassis cab trucks), a convenience for owners whom will now have the ability to travel farther with less frequent fill ups. F-250 and single rear wheel (SRW) F-350 models return with the same standard body and box options of past generations. Dual rear wheel (DRW) F-350 models are only available in long box configurations regardless of body type, and F-450 models return with only one configuration and drive type - 4 wheel drive, Crew Cab, long box.
The 2017 Super Duty platform also introduces Ford's patented Adaptive Steering Technology, through which steering sensitivity is increased or decreased according to a driver's commands and vehicle speed. Ford suggests that this new technology improves driving comfort, confidence, and vehicle maneuverability by tailoring the steering ratio based on real-time conditions. The steering ratio is automatically increased or decreased by up to 30%; at low vehicle speeds, steering sensitivity is increased for greater maneuverability (removing up to one entire rotation of the steering wheel, lock-to-lock). Sensitivity is reduced at greater speeds, providing a more "relaxed" driving experience.
The F-450 steals the show with a maximum 32,500 pounds gooseneck tow capacity. DRW F-350 and F-450 models also receive a heavy duty receiver hitch capable of handling a conventional trailer weighing up to 21,000 lbs. Chassis cab trucks receive a 30 hp increase in power and 90 lb-ft increase in peak torque, bringing ratings to 330 horsepower and 750 lb-ft. Pickup models are now capable of carrying up to 48 gallons of fuel and chassis cab trucks range is greatly improved thanks to a 66 gallon maximum available capacity when properly equipped. At inception, Ford had managed to earn back a magnitude of "Best-in-class" titles in both the pickup and commercial chassis cab markets.

2017 F-650 & F-750 Super Duty Highlights
The 6.7L Power Stroke diesel was introduced to Ford's medium duty truck line for the 2016 model year and its offerings remain unchanged despite the major overhaul for 2017 MY F-250/350/450/550 models. New for the F-650/F-750 is Ford's 6.8L Triton V-10, which was retired several years ago. The gas engine option offers a reduced initial investment for businesses while maintaining capabilities expected from a medium duty truck. Both engines are only available with Ford's TorqShift 6 speed automatic transmission, which features dual overdrive ratios; a 2 speed rear axle is available in select F-750 models. The Power Stroke is available in three power options ranging from 270 to 330 horsepower and 675 to 725 lb-ft.
